1. ALLAHPUR DARWAZA (East Gateway)

The Allahpur Darwaza (also known as Alapur Darwaza) is the eastern gateway of the Bijapur City. The City, which has a 10.5 kms long Fortification Wall (or city wall) in oval shape, is also been given 5 Major Gates on exact East, West, North, South and North West directions.

The Gateways (Darwazas) are named after the nearest/ most significant town/ village which it faces. So the Allahpur gate is supposed to face a settlement named Allapur towards the East of Bijapur City.

This gate is also important because it apparently connected Bijapur with major cities like Gulbarga, Bidar, Golconda and Masulipattinam.

The Darwaza is currently in the worst possible state with a public toilet built inside it and it's lofty wooden door left to decay.

MECCA DARWAZA (West Gate) Location - Beside Taj Bawdi (inside the Government School Campus), Godbole Mala, Vijayapura The Mecca Darwaza has the most unique design among all the doors/ Gateways of Bijapur (Vijayapura) City as it has a big courtyard inside the Doorway. This gate is also the Largest in Size among all the 5 main City Gates. As the name suggests, the building faces West and travellers coming from or going to West, especially Arabia (for Pilgrimage and trade purposes), used this Darwaza. The speciality of the door is that it has a water fountain right infront of it's entrance, which no other Doorway or Gateway in Bijapur (or even Deccan, and most Probably in Whole India) has! The fountain is still in place but it's water systems have got damaged! It's very strange and mind blowing that the Darwaza and the City wall are surrounded by a water filled moat, and still there exists a water fountain right infront of the Darwaza! ALLAHPUR DARWAZA (East Gateway) अल्लापूर दरवाजा (ज्याला आलापूर दरवाजा असेही म्हणतात) हे विजापूर शहराचे पूर्वेकडील प्रवेशद्वार आहे. अंडाकृती आकारात 10.5 किमी लांबीची तटबंदी (किंवा शहराची भिंत) असलेल्या शहराला पूर्व, पश्चिम, उत्तर, दक्षिण आणि उत्तर-पश्चिम दिशांना 5 मोठे दरवाजे देखील दिले आहेत. गेटवे (दरवाजा) चे नाव जवळच्या/सर्वात लक्षणीय शहर/गावाच्या नावावर आहे ज्याला ते तोंड देते. त्यामुळे अल्लापूर दरवाजाला विजापूर शहराच्या पूर्वेला अल्लापूर नावाच्या वस्तीला सामोरे जावे लागते. हे गेट देखील महत्त्वाचे आहे कारण ते विजापूरला गुलबर्गा, बिदर, गोलकोंडा आणि मासुलीपट्टिनम या प्रमुख शहरांशी जोडले होते. दरवाजा सध्या सर्वात वाईट अवस्थेत आहे आणि त्याच्या आत सार्वजनिक शौचालय बांधले आहे आणि तो उंच लाकडी दरवाजा कुजण्यासाठी शिल्लक आहे. स्थळ - गोल गुंबाज पोलिस स्टेशनच्या मागे (गोल गुंबाज पोलिस स्टेशनसमोरील रेल्वे पूलावरून दृश्यमान) Allapur Gate/ Allahpur Agasi/ Allahpur Base/ Allahpur Darwaza/ Alapur Darwaza @Vijayapura, Karnataka  Walk Bijapur - FACEBOOK Walk Bijapur- INSTAGRAM Walk Bijapur- Websit...
